A few more notes:
- The video clips for these chocolate cookies are fast forwarded to shorten the video.
- I collected chocolate boxes after Christmas to place the cookies in and bought a black box as well.
- The liners are cupcake liners and can be found here; brown or white.
- Some of the chocolates pictured in the photos are wrapped in mini cellophane bags. I’m freezing those to use for a fundraising event in February. The rest are already given away to family, friends and students.
Lastly, please forgive me for the zillions of photos in this post, I had fun playing around with different display ideas. Thanks for visiting me here and happy decorating!

This is such a cute idea! Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much Sarah! I appreciate your comment!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE THESE!!!! They really do look like candies! And I have questions–what size are most of the cookies? They look tiny. And did you use the mini cupcake liners or the regular sized ones? I am in love with these!
Thanks Kathy! The cookies are mini, they fit in the mini cupcake liners. I have a link in the post where I mention a few notes. The cookies in the brown liners are a bit larger than the ones in the white liners, ranging from about an inch (2.5 cm) to 2 inches (5 cm) for a few larger ones.
They are great! Do you outline and flood with the same consistency? Was your flood icing really only 5 second? Thanks!!
Thanks Barb! The outside was 10 second and the inside was a runny icing, my 5 second icing.
I had been waiting for you to post something for valentine’s! OMG I love these and they are perfect! These are exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something different from all the Llamas, lattes, donuts and hearts out there. I also love doing minis. These are simple, sweet yet just elegant….just like you Marian. Always love everything you do! Thank you!
Awww, that’s kind of you Mercedes, thank you! I can’t take credit for the idea, it’s from Kei (I’ve linked to her in the post), but yes they were definitely fun to decorate. I love minis too! Happy Valentine decorating! xo
Hi Marian,
Yes, you did fool me….they look like pralines!

They are made with L O V E, this is exactly how they look like.
Seeing the video makes me happy, how the cookies all come together, how you pipe with such perfection!
I enjoyed it so so much.
God bless you and your talent.

Thanks so much Fiona! 🙂
Hi! I’ve been loving this video since last year and couldn’t wait until this Valentines! Question tho, what color pink did you use? I love it so so much with the browns.
Yay, I’m so glad to hear that Erin. I believe I used Wilton’s baby pink, it’s one of my faves.
I am making these for 50 teachers next week (clear boxes and brown papers have arrived and all cookies are baked and in the freezer). I’m just a hobby cookier. Can you tell me how to attach gold leaf? Just tweezers on wet icing or…? Also I couldn’t find info on what shades of brown gel color you use (maybe I missed it!). Thanks!
Hi Ann,
Lovely!
I attach gold leaf with tweezers. It’s very delicate and attaches easily to wet icing.
My favorite shades of brown are actually Wilton brown, Americolor brown and Sugarflair brown. You can use the same color and add more or less depending on how deep you want it to be.
Hope that helps and all the best!
Thank you so much! I know this video is a couple years old so I was hoping you would get a message and see my questions. This is very helpful. I just went and bought a few browns.
Wonderful, thanks Ann!
These are beautiful Marian — I have to try making these! Quick question — Did you use the chocolate royal icing or your regular royal icing for these cookies? I see links to both. Thank you as always!!
Thank you, Shilpi. If I remember correctly, I used chocolate royal icing as well as regular RI. The regular RI for the lighter colors.
Those mini cookies are amazing ! I will make some gift box for Christmas. My question : the thickness of the mini cookies and the baking time. Thank you !
Hi Sylvie,
Thanks! Fairly thin, at about a half a centimeter and baked for about 7 minutes, but it will depend on your oven. The edges should look slightly golden and the middle no longer looks wet. Hope that helps!
