Last batch of cookies for this year! Chocolate sugar cookies covered in pastel royal icing, ready to hand out in my new Barn Light Electric enamelware bowls.
Inspired by their beautiful delphite blue color as part of the color palette for these cookies, the bowls are not only for show, I loved using them to mix my icing colors in.
I really can’t say enough positive things about Barn Light Electric enamelware bowls and their other products (a post on their lighting in our home coming soon) – everything is hand crafted, the quality is absolutely excellent and I adore their style!
You can see all their gorgeous items here, and take advantage of their 12 Days of Christmas sale! 10% off storewide plus free shipping on all orders! It goes from December 23rd to January 3rd. Enter MERRY13 at checkout.
As for these chocolate sugar cookies covered with royal icing, they were really such easy cookies to decorate.
I shared the first layer with you on Instagram, and a few of you said you’d keep them simple just like this…
And I tend to agree, but of course, couldn’t stop myself from decorating further.
My next question to you was regarding the striped stars, I asked on Instagram and Facebook whether or not I should add sugar pearls to the star tips and I received about an even number of “Yes, add them”, and “No, don’t add them.” Sooo, I left them as is this time. What do you think? Would you add sugar pearls?
Thanks to Sweet! Cupcakes and Treats for the striped star idea! Her pastel Christmas cookies are so pretty!
And to Teatro Verde for further pastel color palette inspiration I found in their mini Christmas wreath.
If you’d like to decorate some cookies and need a few basics, you can find some videos I’ve made on YouTube, a FAQ page, and more cookie decorating tutorials here.
Please feel free to drop me a line below or on Facebook, Pinterest etc.
Merry Christmas to you!

Happy Holidays 🙂
Marian, your Christmas cookies are splendid as usual. You are such an inspiration! I embarked on a cookie decorating extravaganza yesterday. I studied your photos and watched a couple of your videos to refesh my memory on flooding etc. Ready, set and the power kicked out! We got hit hard by the ice storm. I persevered and worked on them this morning. Some cookies turned out better than others. “Sweetopia” is my inspiration and I’m so amazed by your talents. Look forward to your posts in 2014! Merry Christmas and may the new year be filled with many blessings. ~Marilyn
