Now it’s time to make some decisions about which appliances to put in the kitchen. Choosing which brand (KitchenAid) was easy – our current kitchen has a KitchenAid fridge and stove, which we’ve been very happy with. I’ve lived here for 8 years and the homeowners before me put them in about 6 years before that, so in a total of 14 years there haven’t been any issues.
I’ve always loved KitchenAid’s quality and style, so I am absolutely thrilled that KitchenAid Canada will be providing all the appliances for our kitchen renovation! {Happy dance!}
But choosing which appliances to put in, is proving to be a little more difficult. So, I’d like to ask you:
Would you share a little feedback on which products you like and why you like them? I’d love to hear your opinion and would appreciate the help!
Which Appliances Would You Choose?
Stove/Oven
This one is the toughest choice for me. All the ovens can come in true convection for most optimal even baking results. The KitchenAid Even-Heat™ True Convection Technology has an advanced bow-tie baffle design and superior air flow and heat distribution that circulates air evenly throughout the oven to provide the most even-baking results across all racks. (That’ll be awesome for baking cookies!) Here are my choices and a few tidbits of info. on each below:
I love the backless look of A and C, but B has some great features such as a dual oven option, and a larger oven viewing window.
Which one would you pick? A, B or C?
(If you’d like to see more details, you can click on the letters to find the corresponding oven on KitchenAid Canada’s site).
*
Fridge
Fridge A is counter-depth and is 72″ high… The industry’s first counter depth freestanding fridge with French doors with the look of a built-in.
Fridge B is also counter-depth with French doors, and custom panels can be added to it to create a more integrated look. (Our kitchen will be white).
Fridge C is a standard depth fridge with KitchenAid’s exclusive Preserva Food Care System that is proven to keep food fresher longer.
Which one do you like best?
*
Dishwasher
I’m confident I’ll be happy with any of the KitchenAid dishwashers, with their premium features like the ProWash™ Cycle and ProDry™ Option for Dishwasher A, which essentially means that there are sensors inside the dishwasher that measure the soil level of your dishes, and the wash system automatically adjusts to the right cycle to clean your dishes. How awesome is that! And ProDry ensures the dishes are completely dry before the cycle ends. Not only that, it is among the quietest dishwashers in the industry.
Dishwasher B also features the amazing qualities of Dishwasher A, but sports a different handle style. Which one do you prefer?
I’d love to know your opinions on these. Help me decide what to chose by leaving me your thoughts below!
xo,
Marian
Note: KitchenAid Canada is providing the large appliances for my kitchen makeover (Thank you!). All opinions are my own.
Chatelaine says
Stove: If you like backless get C for the even heat. But if the features of B trump your like of the backless get B.
Fridge: Get C, I hate the idea of opening my fridge and letting the cold air out just to get water. Imagine your guests at a party constantly opening your fridge to fill their glass.
Dishwasher: The handle on B just looks bizarre… my opinion of course 🙂
Good luck and congrats on the reno!

I just remodeled my kitchen,Got the gas range “A” [5 burner],Fridge “A” and Dish washer” A”, I really luv it..:)Good luck with remodeling..
D says
I would have to go with C, B, nd A—in that order!
Enjoy your new kitchen!
Kathy J. says
I’d go C for the stove because with the amount of baking you do, go commercial-style.
C for the fridge as I agree Chatelaine, why open your fridge if you don’t have to and it’s only to grab a glass of water???
A for the dishwasher. I think that’s the one I have and it is whisper quiet.
Good luck!

I agree with everything Kathy said, she too the words right out of my mouth 🙂
Good luck with your reno 🙂

I remodeled my kitchen and replaced all appliances 18 months ago. I went with A for the stove – I did not have C as an option – or was not shown it when I was choosing. I started off planning to get a built in oven and a drop in cooktop. I got the look I wanted with A and the features that I wanted too for half the price. I have had no complaints about mine at all. I love the convection oven. I have not used the warming drawer – ever. I was not a fan of the double oven because it did not appear that I could get a large turkey inside. I will say that having A that when I am roasting veggies etc on the convection setting it sweats outside on the handle and drips on the floor. NOT good. If I had it to do over again I would literally go to the store and measure a 22 lb turkey to see if it would fit in the top of the double oven. If so I would get it. Also the stove came with a stainless finish on the top or a black enameled finish. I try to be very careful but there are times that things I cook splatter or spit – I can not imagine having to try to clean it off the stainless finish. I am very pleased I went with the enameled top. Not good. I asked a repair person and he said that was normal. I loved the fridge but ultimately went with a LG instead. Mind you this was 18 months ago but I wanted the most space possible and the ice maker took up too much space inside the fridge. My other complaint was I live in the south and we drink a lot of iced drinks. Our tea glasses did not fit in the opening to fill with ice. I did not look at one that had the ice dispenser on the inside of the fridge. Been there done that before and I do not like the kids in and out so often. If B dishwasher was out when I got mine I did not see it. I went with A. I love my dishwasher. It holds so much – so easy to load etc. As far as the handles go – any interior designer will tell you to try and match your handles on the appliances as much as possible. You did not mention a microwave? Not replacing it? I did and went with the microwave convection combo. I love it. Good luck – hope your remodel went smoothly.

Forgot to say – lucky you to have KitchenAid Canada to provide your appliances!!!
SusanH says
Ahhh one more thing – if you can have a full depth fridge than that is what I would get. It is amazing how much interior space you lose with the counter depth.

Wow! I love your new kitchen design! Lucky duck 🙂 What a fantastic idea widening the island bar and making it a real feature in the centre of your kitchen, and that high ceiling makes a world of difference. Beautiful.
Deborah J. says
C,C,A…. For the stove,I like the backless look but don’t care for the settings on the front as I think I’d probably bump them all the time, C has them more on top yet still has the backless look…. The fridge because if you think you’d be using the water/ice feature, I’d prefer not having to open the fridge to get to it… and the dishwasher I just think A is prettier.
Adah R says
I would go with C for the stove because of all the baking you do. B would be my second choice. I like the big window.
I would go with C for the frig because of not having to open it all the time to get a glass of water.
I would go with A for the dishwasher because I like the looks of it.
Can’t wait to see your finished kitchen.
SusanH says
@ Deborah J.:
You are so right about hitting the setting buttons on the front. They are so sensitive that my shirt tail brushing against them would turn something on. It has a lock setting and I use it to keep this from happening. Good call on that Deborah.
SusanH says
One last comment and I will quit putting in my two cents – I was thrilled that I was able to put all my half sheet pans in the dishwasher. I do not know anything about chemistry but my old dishwasher did not have a stainless steel interior and the new one does. All my new shiny cookie sheets came out black. I was never able to get the discoloration off.

I’ll give you my “readers digest” version:
Stove/oven: C
Fridge: C
Dishwasher: A
Meghan @ Domestic Sugar says
I had the joy of building a new house, and with that, a new kitchen! Full double oven, cooktop and huge fridge! LOVE IT!
I would totally pick:
Stove/Oven: C
Fridge: A (you pay more for less with counter depth… beware)
Dishwasher:A
Good luck building your own dreams!
Patti Gramza says
How wonderful that you’re to the point of picking your wonderful appliances. I for sure would go with C for the stove. Having the panel in the front on A would make me leery, small children happy fingers and all (though the lock would prevent danger…….still would not like it) and for the fridge…A and C would be a toss up. I like A for the dishwasher, but of course, this is all just person opinion and I wish you happiness Marian CookieQueenExraordinaire with whatever you choose!!!!!!!
Good luck and please share more as your decisions become finalized! Wheeeeeeeeee!

Hi Marion,
We redid our kitchen in 1996 because we bought a house that had burned in a fire and so it had to be completely gutted.
I am ready to do it again and my husband and I are talking about how we can finance it. This time it will be different.
First I’ll tell you my mistakes in hopes there may be a tidbit in there that you might benefit from, then I’ll give you my choices for appliances. (you lucky duck- but honestly, smart decision on the part of Kitchenaid-this will be a good return on their investment) I have a built in cooktop and wall oven. NEVER again! My sink is in a corner, this was not smart on my part. We have a fabulous view of Yarmouth Harbour from our kitchen. My sink should have been under the window. I have an island. Anyone who doesn’t have one, wants one. There are some beauties out there but I’m not loving mine. I have a large stone fireplace in my kitchen and the island sort of interrupts traffic flow and sight lines somehow. I might go with a penninsula if I get to do it again.
On your appliances, I like the A’s all across the board. I like the smooth surfaces and easy to clean too. I like the knobs on the A stove the best and the handle on the A dishwasher. Good luck and congratulations.
Kelly Wander says
stove- b for double oven , otherwise i like asthetics of a best
refrig – c if like ease of use for water, quick fill for measurement/water in baking
dw – a – less likely to have to replace handle on it, and can hang decisions towels of if for color pop in kitchen
Carol says
I Will go with B-C-A
Julie says
We just moved to a small house that has a kitchen remodel in the near future in the works! We would love stove A as we need a backless model, refrigerator C and dishwasher A or B.
lana says
I would do stove B, fridge C and dishwasher A. Sure could use these in our kitchen
JeffO says
I replied at FB as well but you didn’t have all these other choices…. so here is my reply and why
stove: C – with all you do this is a perfect choice. we got on similar for my wife; however she wanted a double over so we got that model instead of the single cavity and she LOVES it.
Refrigerator: C – French door, stainless and water dispenser exactly what we got and loving it. my family drinks a lot of water and I love having reclaimed some space inside instead of using a brita system.
Dishwasher: A – simply because the handle will match and make the kitchen seem a cohesive whole.
Can’t wait to see what you make with your new gear….
Heidi Varden says
B on the stove, c on the fridge, B on the dishwasher.
The stove because i like controls on the back so i don’t( or someone else doesn’t) accidentally changing the oven temp.
The fridge because it’s inconvenient to open the fridge and dispense water. not to mention it might not be a good thing to have the door open every time you use the dispenser you are lowering the temp of the fridge making it work harder and possibly spoiling food.
the dishwasher just because it is nice not to have a handle sticking out.
A Special cake says
We too just did a renovation recently. We got fridge A because we had to get counter depth. We are only three people, and I find it too small, because I bake out of my home. If I had the space I would definitely go with the deeper fridge. We opted NOT to have an external water dispenser because even though it is convenient, we find it unattractive and we heard it breaks down often.
As for the range – I prefer to have the panel in the back and to have 5 burners as opposed to 4 – BUT for me the most important feature was to have a dual fuel oven – I wasn’t sure if you have that or if it’s all gas. For Baking, electric is much better. For a range, gas is much better.
Good luck, and enjoy your new kitchen!!
Liz says
Stove C, Fridge C, and Dishwasher A. Have fun with the new kitchen! 🙂
Erin N. says
For the stove I have “B” and I absolutely love it! It bakes so even, even if the entire thing is crammed full of cookies sheets (I can fit 6 sheets in at a time).
I would recommend getting fridge “B” – less stainless steel to clean. I have the SS one and it is always covered in fingerprints, water droplets etc.
Tesei says
Oh goodness, it’s hard to say… I’m very bad at choosing appliances as it is, nevermind on internet. But whatever you decide, I’m sure you’ll have a gorgeous kitchen, please let us see the end results!

C, C and B – but that would all depend on the style and finishes of your newly reno’ed kitchen. A a pot filler faucet would work well with the backless stove. Looking forward to the reveal!!

I dont like any stoves with the knobs on front. I dont get why anybody is still making it that way. Besides the fact I have children who get into everything.. I used to always bump into them and get the gas going or turn down the heat brushing up against it. I am dying for a less deep fridge. I lose things in the back alll the time. And no pref. on dishwasher, If kids are in the house then the one thats harder to open. and one with a height distance to fit big things. Take your biggest, tallest dishwasher safe item with you to see if it fits
Florence A. says
I just purchased stove A in duel fuel and dishwasher A. They haven’t been delivered yet, but I’m sure I’ll like them both. I have a fridge similar to A ….if you are thinking about the model with the outside water dispenser, make sure to look at how much space you will lose on the inside door. That might make a difference to you.
ClaudiaIsBaking says
I sure hope all our comments don’t make it harder for you! I’d love a warming drawer (especially for icing cookies on humid days). Ice/water in the door is cool, but messy and will be the most frequent repair job in your kitchen. Based solely on aesthetics (which is important to me when laying out a lot of money for remodeling), I would go with option A on all three. I love the look of the handles all matching… and a longer handle on the dishwasher helps often. I’ve had my hands full of greasy pots and needed to open the dishwasher with my elbows, knees and feet! Just pick the ones you want, but make sure you’ll be happy LOOKING at them every day, too. (There are a lot of cars with features I’d love to have, but I don’t like the styling and wouldn’t want to see them sitting in my driveway every day.). Best of luck!
Amy Jo Drown says
I would choose B stove/oven and C fridge and B dishwasher.
would love my kitchen to be larger than it is, trying to convince hubby of that….
Lisa says
I have had dishwasher A for quite some time and I love it. No complaints at all. I love the clean look of it and the handle matches my stove.
I just purchased stove A not too long ago and although I do love it I have a few thoughts. My old stove was a kitchen aid electric with cast iron burners. So I knew I wanted dual fuel, gas cooktop, electric oven. I bake a lot of cakes and after a little research I realized convection is not good for cakes, the air circulation can deflate them and cooks the outside faster leaving a gooey center. So I haven’t used the convection too much but the conventional is very consistent and I am happy with it. Going from electric to gas cooktop I forgot how hot the handles of the pots on the stovetop get with gas! So I have had to retrain myself to not grab handles anymore 🙂 That being said it is great for wok cooking with the special grate. One big difference is the vent location. My old oven vented on top, while the new one vents on the front just above the oven door. So you will be standing directly in front of the vent if you need to use the stovetop while the oven is on. I haven’t had too much of an issue but a few times, condensation does occur at the vent and drips down the front of the oven door, leaving a mark on the stainless. The touch panel is nice, at first I was unintentionally “touching” it quite a bit but after a short period of time I don’t have any issues with it. May be an issue with children.
Sorry I have no comments on the refrigerator, other than I have a subzero with the wood panels to match the cabinets and I like that look more so that the big stainless box, but that’s probably a matter of personal preference, and we have a filtered water tap at the kitchen sink so no need to open the refrigerator door for water.
Congratulations and good luck with your kitchen remodel!

@ ClaudiaIsBaking:
I have a warming drawer and have never used it for cookies. I live in OH and cookies in the summer are really iffy because of the humidity. How do you use your warming drawer?
Kim says
I vote C A A. Enjoy your new kitchen!

How exciting! I would choose option B for the stove. Unless your stove is going to be in an island and need to be flush against the countertop, I think having the knobs/buttons on the back is the better option. I always have the kids in the kitchen and I don’t want them messing with those buttons. Not to mention, you can accidentally change settings if lean on the stove.
For the fridge, I would choose C. The only reason is the water and ice on the outside. It is so convenient and it makes drinking water the easiest option. Since we got a fridge with the dispenser like this, our kids have started drinking more water.
Dishwasher, I would choose A only because the handle matches the other options I chose. You mentioned that it already had the other options that are important like the complete drying and the quietness.
I can’t wait to see what options you pick!

how exiting to pick all the appliances…
I would pick:
stove A
fridge C
dishwasher A
good luck with your reno!

I too would go with C for the range. I have a kitchenaid convection oven and have not been happy with it; although it is not the commercial version.
C for the fridge
A for the dishwasher

I’m going to go A,A and A. I am so excited to see what you wind up choosing!! Good luck with such a fun remodel!
Dolores says
@ Chatelaine:You may want to think twice about the water on the outside of your fridge. Two reasons: One the dirt that can float up and rest there just fr sweeping your floor or fr the furnace running in the winter. The other reason is you can’t put a pitcher under the outer door one. Every time you want to make juice or have a pitcher of water you have to fill it up cup by cup. Get the stove that will make your baking life easy. Have fun with your new kitchen. Looking forward to all the new post that will come out of your new kitchen.
