My original intention with these cupcakes had nothing to do with the Twilight saga…
… and everything to do with the pretty Vestlihouse cupcake liners and chess mold
I’m thinking they would work for a Twilight themed party though.
One of my students, the talented Christina, made all the chocolate and vanilla cupcakes & icing, as well as all the chocolate chess pieces. Christina, you did an amazing job!

This vinyl chess board, the perfect size for standard cupcake liners, is from MegaChess.com and the bookend rook and knight is from my local Chapters store.
All the cupcake liners are from Vestlihouse. I bought lots of these to make my own cupcakes with, and more to give away to you!

I am a chubby chick so I like ANY kind of cupcake but I would say my favorite is carrot cake with a thick glob of cream cheese frosting. Thanks for your “sweet” blog, I love it!

I actually thought of Harry Potter when I first saw these! Magical chess sets, and of course the giant chess set in Sorcerer’s Stone! Didn’t know Twilight had anything to do with chess (not a fan of the series – I read them all, but don’t remember chess being mentioned! haha)
As for my favorite cupcake, I think my favorite type of cupcake is “mini”. No frosting. 🙂

Chocolate! With chocolate fudge icing – but not too much icing. I can only take so much. Mmmm. Oh, now I’m hungry… good thing I have carrot cake muffins with cream cheese filling in the fridge… my very close second fave!
First of all I would like to congratulate you for your fantastic blog (first time here) and then for doing an International competition… usually it is limited to the USA or one area, and I live at the bottom of the world!
Then, your post made me smile because I did make a Twilight menu, all black and red, and I was thinking of Twilight cupcakes for the future….
Finally, my answer… I really like mini cupcakes, of most types (but not the one with to much artificial colouring) as long as they are miniature cupcakes… I love the details and the fact that they are scrumptious like o box of chocolates!

Who can turn down a cupcake of any flavor? I’d have to say I am a big fan of anything with chocolate, in the cake or the frosting, so it would have to be something chocolate that would get my vote. I love the chess piece cupcakes! My husband is a big fan of chess so I know what I might do for his birthday cake this year. Thanks for the idea!

It’s almost impossible for me to pick my favorite kind of cupcake. But I know of a killer chocolate raspberry cake that makes cupcakes almost as delicious as the layer cake form!
