Orange Cream Cheese Icing Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb cream cheese, softened or room temperature
  • 1/2 lb unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 tbsp orange zest zest, from one orange
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice from one orange
  • 1 tsp white food gel coloring (optional)
  • 1 lb icing sugar (confectioner's sugar), sifted Add more icing sugar to thicken icing, as desired

Instructions

  • Cream the cream cheese, butter, orange zest and orange juice in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment.
  • Slowly add the icing sugar and beat until smooth.
  • Add 1 tsp white food gel coloring and mix until incorporated.
  • Add more icing sugar to thicken icing, if desired.
  • Once cupcakes have cooled, ice as desired.
