Hello there!
It’s been a while! Life’s been busier than usual and I’ve missed being here!
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen some of these pics already, but here’s what I’ve been up to:
Admiring all the cakes at The Bonnie Gordon Cake Show hosted by the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts. (I can’t wait to make wedgewood cookies inspired by this cake made by one of the school’s teachers, Marisa Scibetta!).
Spectacular cakes, to say the least. (Cake above is by Joanne Wang of Mashion Bakery).
So many different, gorgeous styles. (Cake above by Shireen Whitmore).
And so many beautiful sweet works of art! (Cake above by Michelle Spagnoli of Cake Creations by Michelle).
Besides the annual cake design exhibition presented by the Bonnie Gordon College, there were demos by the school’s instructors, a bake sale (yum!), and a few fantastic cake and cupcake design competitons. If you’re interested in knowing a little bit more about The Cake Show and/or the Bonnie Gordon College you can find more information here.
I really marvel at the talent out there… and am inspired to try some more cake decorating (hopefully) soon!
Another thing which I need to try, is this cake ball roller, called The Easy Roller, which I saw at The Bakery Showcase. It makes 21 cake balls at once! I’m all for time-saving ideas, and having made these cake pops, know that this device would have made things go a lot faster.
Jennifer of Heavenly Cake Pops showed me how to use it a few weeks ago. It’s even designed to be interchangeable with new inserts available for different sizes and shapes! A little fyi, I just might have some exciting news for you about this cake pop maker below. 😉
Besides sweet adventures, I spent lots of time hiking in the forest to visually savour these beautiful flowers – trilliums.
Every year I visit the same hills which are covered in a blanket of them.
This past long weekend was our road trip to see family…
H-banana and her cousin had so much fun…
A weekend full of beach time, birthday cakes, trampolines, sprinklers, sparklers, fireworks, bubbles, backyard barbeques, and lots of family.
Even Lionel made the trip with us, and enjoyed a little vacation underneath the hostas.

sue @ cakeballs, cookies and more says
oh I wanted to go to that show so badly. And so funny you are sharing the cake pop roller, my dad has been telling me I need something like that but I kept telling him how much it is. So funny.
Shireen Whitmore says
I am happy that you liked my cake design so much that you’ve featured it in your blog. 🙂 It is the first time I’ve exhibited and it was a gratifying experience. I’ve made wedding cakes for family and friends over the years and the best thing about that was seeing the look on the bride’s face when she saw her cake. The exhibition was the same experience but of a different, larger magnitude.
I love designing and making cakes!

Hello Marian,
I have sent my “sweet decoration” for the contest, however I do not see it there. Did the picture qualify for the contest? Please let me know. Have a wonderful day.
marian says
Hi @ Dusana F.: I’m truly sorry if your sweet isn’t in the contest this time! It was really difficult to chose and there are so many more I would pick if I could. As there were hundreds to chose from, I narrowed it down as best I could according to the reasons in the FAQs here:
https://sweetopia.net/sweet-of-the-week/
Please don’t lose heart! Please try again another month. xo

Hi sweetie, ohmy so that cake pop roller is good? You have seen it “live” in action? I tend to weigh my cake pops so all look the same but obviously, when I have an order for like..100 Cake Pops or more, it takes quite a while. I might give it a try with this cake pop roller 🙂
I SO wish I could have been at The Bonnie Gordon Cake Show, those cakes, wow!! I bet it was a blast for you.
Can’t wait for another post from youuu,
much love, xoxo
