Household Confession of a Cookie Decorator and a bObi Pet Review
It’s cookie decorating confession time, household edition. I’m fairly sure that it’s no secret by now that cookie decorating especially is a bit of an hobby obsession of mine, dominating my thoughts and much of my free time. I’ve shared over 50 secrets you may also identify with here if you’re a fellow cookie nerd or possible cookie nerd, 😉 and I think it’s time to share another confession. This time it’s related to balancing life and my sweet obsession. Join me in the comment section below if you have some confessions you’d like to add as well.
Fitting making and blogging about sweets in amongst life can be a challenge. I get asked on a regular basis how I manage to fit them in while working full-time, making time for family and other commitments. The truth is, I can, but something’s gotta give, as they say. And in my case, it’s things like cleaning the house and doing laundry. Fortunately we are blessed to have enough clothes and towels etc. to get by without having to constantly run the washer and dryer, but it’s the other household chores, like vacuuming, which lag behind. I love coming home to a clean house, so I end up often having to give up baking and blogging in order to keep up with maintaining our home. You may have noticed less blog posts than usual before this past summer as well, and that was due to a home renovation I’ll be sharing soon, but now that I’m back to sharing more on Sweetopia, I have found it a challenging balance act. Enter my new favorite thing, bObi Pet, a robot vacuum cleaner. I really can not remember the last time I’ve been this excited about a product. I’m thankful to bObsweep for sharing one with me. I approached them on the advice of a friend and was fortunate to receive one to review.
Besides the UV light that sterilizes surfaces and the fact that it can sweep, mop and vacuum at the same time, I think one of the nicest features of the bObi Pet is its ability to detect pets. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed my two bunny fur-balls, Lionel and Ginger. They’re still getting used to bObi Pet while he’s zooming around (bunnies are quite timid animals in general; I’m hoping the occasional treat on top of bObi Pet does the trick!), but he does a nice job of not bumping into them, as you can see in the video below.
bObiPet fits under most of our furniture and is able to move between different surfaces, like our hardwood floors and rugs and even has a HEPA filter to trap allergens and pet dander in the air! One of the first things I wondered about before getting him, was if the bObi Pet could perform well in terms of suction power. I was pleasantly surprised at his strength and relatively quiet vacuum. When I want him to concentrate on one area, say the kitchen floors, I use the “bObi blOcks” to essentially corral him in. I also love the fact that I can schedule my cleaning with his remote! The bObi Pet has this feature that allows him to detect when his battery is almost dead, and he makes his way towards his charging station on his own. I did notice that it does take him quite a long time to find it in my house, so I do think that feature could be improved. All in all though, I’m absolutely thrilled with the bObi Pet. It certainly saves me time and energy and frees me up to decorate cookies!
Now if there just could be a bathroom-cleaning robot I’d be set.

Happy decorating!

That got my attention! Thanks for sharing!

I should look into this little gem of a sweeper, as vacuuming & wasking floors does take up big chunk out of my day. Not that I spend as time baking or decorating cookies as you, though.
Have a great day, Marian, and thank you for all your wonderful creations and inspiration!

Thanks Kate and Marguerite!

Hi Marion, have you tried IRobots products? I have Roomba and Scooba, and love them both – Roomba vacuums, Scooba washes hard floors. I would be interested if you got a chance to review them and compare.

How do you like the Roomba & Scooba? I have tile and wood floors and was considering the Roomba but had not heard of the Scooba. Thanks!
marian says
Hi Marina,
I haven’t tried them to compare, sorry. The bObi Pet has a mopping option on it too.

Hi Maria Theresia,
It goes in a bin which is easily removed. It’s quite a large size but I empty it after every use.
Maria Theresia says
Hi again! Ment to tell you, your two bunnies are cute!

Thanks! 🙂

I absolutely love your gorgeous cookies!! I began decorating cookies long before blogs, the internet and mostly learned by trial and error! My first venture with royal icing began with cookies looking like Desitin Diaper Cream had been applied!! Not very appetizing! I just watched your tutorial on cable knits, and I hope to give it a try soon!! I haven’t decorated cookies in quite a while and I need to get busy!! Thank you for all your great ideas!!
