Raspberry Ice KitchenAid Stand Mixer {Giveaway!}

Posted on October 15th, 2013 in Giveaway, Recipes

There really is something special about KitchenAid stand mixers. Whether it be their usefulness in the kitchen or attractive look, they are loved world wide.

There’s something extra special about this 10th Anniversary Cook for the Cure KitchenAid Raspberry Ice Mixer.

Not only is it pretty to look at, it exists for a good cause.

Purchasing this mixer benefits the Susan G. Komen Cook for the Cure efforts to find a solution to end breast cancer. If you aren’t familiar with Cook for the Cure, it’s a “program that gives people with the passion for cooking a way to support the fight against breast cancer. Through culinary-based fundraising, events, auctions and the sale of pink products, the partnership between Susan G. Komen for the Cure and KitchenAid has raised 8 million in the past decade.” (KitchenAid.com)

I’m thrilled to be able to give one away, thanks to KitchenAid USA, and I’m excited to share with you another Cook for the Cure effort; share the love with Pass the Plate.

Villeroy & Broch and award-winning cooking show host, Jacques Pepin, have teamed up to produce 5,000 limited edition plates featuring artwork created by Jacques. Besides the artwork, the beauty of this plate is that when you purchase or receive it, make a favorite recipe, put it on the plate and pass it to a friend, each time the plate is passed and registered, KitchenAid will make a $5 donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

I decided to make a few cherry themed desserts to match the beautiful plate; cherry pie decorated cookies and chocolate chip cherry cookies. If you’d like to make them too, I’ll share the cherry pie cookie tutorial in an upcoming post soon, and the chocolate chip cherry cookie recipe is below:

Chocolate Chip Cherry Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cherry Cookies

  • ½ pound or 250 g unsalted butter
  • ½ cup or 100 g white (granulated) sugar
  • 1 cup or 200 g packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¼ cups or 320 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup dried or candied cherries, chopped
  • 10 ounces or 300 g semisweet chocolate chunks (or favorite chocolate of choice)

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; mix butter, white sugar and brown sugar on medium speed until fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and eggs and mix well.
  4. Sift together flour baking soda and salt and add to mixing bowl; mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in dried or candied cherries and chocolate chips.
  6. Form the dough into uniform size balls and space them apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. {A 1 ½ inch ice-cream scoop or a tablespoon can help you create uniform cookie balls}.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes if you like your cookies chewy, longer if you like them crisp. (Approx. 20 minutes or until edges are golden brown and the cookie no longer looks ‘wet’).
  8. Remove from oven, let cool on the pan for 5 minutes, and then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
