A very similar thing happened to me at Christmas time. My wreath on my front door became the favorite spot a Carolina Wren. One night I opened the door to let the dog out and the Wren flew into my house! It took a lot of patience (and cleaning) but I was able to carefully get him back outside. What a delight to be that close to nature!
